Viewers read subtitles while they watch, so a line that disappears too fast or runs too long gets skipped. Streaming platform guidelines typically limit subtitles to two lines and set a maximum reading speed of around 17 to 20 characters per second for adult audiences, and we apply the same readability logic to every language we deliver.
